Resources

Here are some other very useful resources you can pick up at the Laurier Virtual Library

Before you can access the database list, remember to indicate that you’re in Gr 9-12. Select ALL Resource Types and Science as your SUBJECT. Your results will include databases and external web links that may provide better information than if you simple GOOGLE your element.

Scrolling down to Subject Guides at the bottom of this list and selecting Science and Grade 9 will bring you to resources for your course. Selecting Chemistry: The Nature of Matter will yield some useful results as well.

Citation

For Science assignments, you will be using the APA school of citation. Remember that a Reference list is required.

Remember to look to OWL @ Purdue for other questions that arise about citation. It’s where Mrs. Vilicic or Mr. Kosowan go when we’re looking for information about citation.

Instead of just going to Google, you could also consult the following websites and databases as well:

Fordham University has created an Internet Sourcebook that provides primary source documents different civilizations and eras across History.

Period 3

Ms. Maharaj – CHV2O1 – Civics & Citizenship

Researching using news sources for your Current Events Analysis can be done through the Virtual Library as well as using Google. (Remember to keep track of where you found your information so that formatting your Works Cited list will be a breeze!)

It is crucial to properly reference information that is not your own in order to give credit where it’s due and also to avoid PLAGIARISM. Providing your teacher with a URL for a website used unfortunately will not cut it anymore

Using the following information will put you on the right track to creating a Works Cited list to be proud of!

Below you’ll find the Laurier Guide for MLA Citation.
